Louie L. White papers, 1941-1990.

Consisting of handwritten and photocopied examples of White's anthems, cantatas, musical dramas, incidental music, and compositions for various instruments; newspaper articles re the premier performance of his "Missa Brevis" by the Converse College Chorus; and tape recordings featuring various presentations of his musical compositions, including recording, 13 May 1979, of memorial concert at the Church of the Ascension, New York. Also including programs documenting performances of his works; letter, 16 Aug. 1954, New York, to [George C.] Koffskey, complimenting Koffskey's performance of White's "This Son So Young"; 2 letters, 21 Nov. and 3 Dec. 1979, New Orleans, George C. Koffskey, to Thomas L. Johnson, South Caroliniana Library, re his association with White; and notes on the recording. Other letters include, 19 Sept. 1990, Kennett Square, Pa., from Juilliard School Professor Vernon de Tar (1905-1999), to Thomas L. Johnson and Henry G. Fulmer, South Carolinaiana Library, explaining the nature of the gift and his formation of "The Louie L. White Memorial Committee" to foster interest in the performance of White's music.
